Unfortunately, I can no longer list any updates after 2020, as my wife and I are no longer able to make the hikes again due to our age.

However, I am happy to describe updates that are communicated to me by the readers of my books.

Costa Blanca II Walking Guide

Changes to all editions

Route 10 "Campell"

Corona restrictions

Since the general corona restrictions came into force, access to the site for visitors has been prohibited to protect the sanatorium patients.

Therefore, you cannot currently use the alternative approaches described in the current book text at the beginning of the hike. At the beginning of the hike you have to use the main path, which is difficult in the first section.

Changes to all editions before 2020:

Route 11 "Benigemblá - A walk around the Mirabó"

The consequences of the deportations and murders were fatal, both for Spain and for those affected.

We stay on our path, which is marked now and then with white and yellow stripes. The way strives in serpentines to the height.

Arriving at a fairly high altitude, we come to a junction. In the past (before 2020) there was a sign tree pointing to the right towards »Pla d`En Moragues«. Here we turn onto the small path that turns sharply to the left. This small path is now narrower and runs parallel to the Caball Verd.

(If we missed this path, we come a little further to a ruin, in front of which there was also a path to the left. If we follow this path to the left, you take a detour and you can only find your way according to the direction . It is better to go back and look for the right turn!)

Changes to all editions before 2019:

Route 9 "From the Collado de Garga to the Font de la Mata"

Directions:

If we drive the route over Jalón, Alcalalí and Parcent in the direction of Castell de Castells, the lane uphill to the restaurant "La Venta del collao" is now well developed and passable!

Hike:

... After a short while we look to the right into a deep valley and can see over a farm on a hill on Dénia and the Montgó. Then we arrive at a fork in the road. Here we take the left path through a small pine grove. The shield of the Generalitat Valencia has been removed.

... A short distance after leaving the almond tree plantation, a small path leads to the left. At the corner of this path is now a sign: Font de la Mata. 20 m further you can see in the path on a small rock, also with white-yellow bars.

Route 10 "Campell"

Additional information for redirection:

After unusually heavy rainfall at the end of 2016 and in January 2017, followed by a heavy storm, the first section of our hike slipped off
and over the path. Trees also fell or broke off and block our way. In the meantime, the obstacles have been removed, but some parts of the
first section of the trail are now very steep and slippery. If you want to avoid that, I recommend the following redirect:

We go from our parking lot towards Fontilles. Behind the entrance of Fontilles, the road splits and we take the right road that leads uphill
slightly. Further, we turn on the right from the road on a wide forest road. A little later, on this forest road, we come:

 • (new from May 2018) to a wide path that leads a little further through a wall breakthrough.

More recommendable is the following path:

• further on a small path that leads uphill to a gate in a wall. We go through this gate and turn behind it to the right on a path, which then
runs longer along the wall.

At the end of these paths, we come to a small street, which leads us to the right and after 10 minutes left to a path, which we would have
encountered on the normal trail. (When we reach the small house with the key on the roof, we have walked about 100 m too far and have
to go back).

In this trail, we continue our actual walk:(go to)

... a path, that is again marked with white and yellow stripes. We now walk through a shady pine forest. To the left of us rises the Caball Verd, a mountain range that once served as the last refuge for the Moors expelled from this area in the 17th century ...

Route 13 “Jalon - Through a sea of almond blossoms”

At some point on our way we have on the right, once again a look at the two distinctive peaks of the Caball Verd and right behind at the long stretched Mediodia.

We stay on the barely traveled asphalt road. At one corner we recognize washed-out (2019) signs that point both straight ahead and left. Here we turn left towards the mountains.

The lane turns into a field track after about 35 minutes of walking.

There is a small ravine on the left and after a short stretch of lane we come to a signpost that points to the "Refugium de los Burros" (donkey stud). This signpost no longer exists (2019). The way in the direction of donkey stud goes from a right turn to the left. On this way, we go and arrive after about 5 m to a stone with a white-green cross-mark, which says that we should not continue here.

We do not disconcert by that and climb up a narrow, rough and rocky mountain path.

Route 17 "Majestic mountains in the valley of the Rio Algar"

…Before a sharp left turn of the road, we can look right through a glade on the magnificent mountain peaks of the Sierra Aixorta. The view extends after a bend. This view of the Sierra Aixorta and right to the Sierra Serrella accompanies us now for some time.

After that a clarification:

After about 40 minutes we pass a gate belonging to Finca El Server, here we turn downhill in a right-hand bend.

Than:

Arrived at the height, we pass a dilapidated finca.

There are no more wild dogs!

Route 18 “Sierra Aitana”

Access from the south:

Coming from the south on the N-332 (e.g. from Villajoyosa) at Benidorm take the exit towards La Nucia and take the CV-70 towards Guadalest.

Behind Km 34 (after the restaurants Pepe and Ponsoda) follow the sign "Restaurante El Trastellador".

Exactly 700 m before the restaurant El Trastellador we park at the Font Moli (not signposted, but see photo).

Here we park somewhere on the roadside.
